House unanimously passes spam protection
Without dissent the House voted Thursday to give Internet users some protections against "spam."
SB 1280 would prohibit sending e-mail messages with a false return address. Advertising would have to be labeled as such in the message line to allow for easy deletion.
The legislation, which already has cleared the Senate in near-identical form, would also require senders to provide a simple way for recipients to avoid future messages and to delete names from lists within three days. A final roll-call vote is set for next week.
