Outline:
PARAGRAPH I.
Explain the problem and issue.
State a CLEAR thesis. This is your position. Your thesis should answer the
EQ.
All of your facts and quotes will support your thesis.
PARAGRAPHS II & III
Cite evidence. Three facts, two quotes, or other supporting evidences.
Paragraph II & III should support the thesis stated in paragraph I.
Clarify evidence with quotes and facts.
PARAGRAPHS IV
Make connections to other subjects.
Give other view points.
State the significance of the issue
PARAGRAPHS V or more
(Must restate thesis and do one or more of these things)
Suggest a solution to the problem, Analyze the problem,
State an opinion, Analyze evidence and consequences, "What if·?"
Restate the thesis
Restate the questions or issue in the answer
Give evidence
What are some different view points?
What are the connections to other subjects?
"What if ·?
What is the significance?
By following the outline you will use your habits of mind.
You will be graded on how well you answer the essential question, how well you use
your habits of mind and follow the outline in your writing.
